Intern, Turkish Aerospace Industries - ITU Very Light Aircraft Project
August 2018 – August 2019, Istanbul, Turkey
Summary: Supported primary structure sizing and validation for a very light aircraft using classical methods and FEA; contributed to aero/structures integration.
Focus areas:
- Composite structure sizing, buckling and stability checks
- Global FEM model development and validation
- Stiffener strength, crippling/local buckling (flange/web) & warping calculations
- Highly loaded stiffener check due to flexural (stiffener + effective web) & local instability (Bruhn, Niu, Roark, EASA CS-23, FAA FAR 23)
Methods/Stack:
- CAE: MSC Patran/Nastran, Ansys Workbench/Fluent
- CAD & DT: CATIA (design),
- CFD: Ansys Fluent
CATIA render of the plane.
